The Parent-Child (PC) Workshops are to assist the families in working together at various key points during the program. There are four Parent-Child Workshops – PC1, PC2, PC3 and PC4. Everyone attending PC must be a Discovery or Youth Camp graduate. Discovery is the foundational seminar for all material and concepts presented in the Parent Child series.
Each PC must be attended in sequential order. Only parents or stepparents are invited to PC1, PC2 and PC3. Siblings who have completed Discovery or Youth Camp may attend PC4. Your school or facility will invite you when you have met all requirements for the specific PC.
PC1 is generally held 4-7 months into the program depending upon the families’ progress through the seminars. PC1 will assist families in addressing past issues which were part of the problems which lead to enrollment into your facility. As in all PC workshops, the family will lay the path for the necessary continuing work at this stage of the program. Each PC will generate a Family Plan which will direct the activities of the family until the next PC workshop. This plan is your roadmap to the next PC. There is a values workbook for parents after PC1. This workbook is part of the preparation for PC2.
PC2 is generally 6-9 months into the program. Attendance is based on the progress of the family in the program. PC2 is ensure the family and student are on track regarding dealing with past and present issues which must be resolved for the family to reunite successfully.
PC3 introduces material to support the family developing a new structure and dynamics once the family is reunited. PC3 looks towards the future rather than the past. At PC3 families will set up plans for the Life Contract, home visits, and integration of values into the family. The time frame for PC3 varies from family to family. Your facility will invite you based on your progress.
PC4 is a transition and celebration seminar. PC4 is generally about 4 months after PC3. Again as in all phases of the program, an invitation to PC4 is based on the results your family has created. This is the place where the family moves from the internal program to living together daily. PC4 puts the final touches on contracts and sets the stage for "going home together." In PC3 families will have an opportunity to celebrate the journey to date as they begin the next phase.
